
Vivan “Joyce” Pendleton, 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1931 to the late Harry and Blanche (Brooks) Coad in Graniteville, Missouri. Joyce was a 1950 graduate of Arcadia Valley High School in Ironton, Missouri and was Salutatorian of her class of 50 students. That same year she moved to Fremont, Ohio. Joyce married Edward William Pendleton on April 23, 1953 and he preceded her in death on February 4, 2015. Joyce worked at J.J. Newberry Company and at Fremont Memorial Hospital for 30 years. She was voted Employee of the Year during her working career. She retired at the age of 72. Joyce was a long-time antique dealer, doing shows and having barn sales at her home. She also enjoyed yard work and having big gardens. Joyce loved her dog, Jordan. She taught her five children the value of hard work and she was the love of her children and grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her five children, Debra (Gary) Sanderson of Toledo, Michael (Laura) Pendleton of Lindsey, Melinda Myers of Bellevue, Bryan (Pamela) Pendleton of Green Springs, and Kevin (Toni) Pendleton of Lindsey; fourteen grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joshua, Emily, Erin, Carly, Megan, Michele, Chris, Ruel, Rebeca, Rachel, Tyler, Spencer, and Colby; great-grandchildren, Livia, Aiden, Mekko, Charley, Leo, Audrey, David, Madilynn, David, Gage, Tristan, Bryce, Hayleigh, Ryleigh and Braxton; sister-in-law, Donna Foos of Fremont and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; sister, Rosemary Jordan; brothers, Wayne, Alvin and Stanley Coad; grandson, Benjamin Slaughter
Visitation: Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Funeral Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH
