Verna M. Stuckey
Verna M. Stuckey, 83, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, September 03, 2014 at Countryside Continuing Care Center. She was born on November 29, 1930 in Fremont, the daughter of Melvin T. and Clatys (Hetrick) Nickel.
Verna married Lamar H. Kiser on April 3, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1988. She married Russell Stuckey on May 16, 1992 at Trinity Methodist Church in Fremont and he survives.
Verna worked at H.J. Heinz Company and retired in 1993 after seventeen years of service. After retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially to Michigan several times each summer and to Texas two months every winter. Verna loved cooking, especially pies from scratch, enjoyed eating at fund raising events and special get-togethers with family and friends.
Verna is survived by her husband, Russell Stuckey; children, Carol Martin, Judy Webb, Linda (Tod) Mosser, Paul (Heather Gonya) Kiser, all of Fremont, OH, Gary Kiser, Lima, OH; brothers, Merle Nickel and Myron (Audrey) Nickel both of Fremont, OH, Eugene (Joanne) Nickel, Oak Harbor, OH; sister-in-law, Pansy Nickel, (Fremont, OH); nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lamar H. Kiser; daughter, Cindy (Jack) Kempher; brother, Wayne Nickel; son-in-law, Richard L. Martin and two infant great grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Service: Saturday, September 6, 2014; 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3077 Sandusky County Rd. 170, Fremont, OH with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Keith Koppenhofer will be officiating.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery
Memorials: At Verna’s request in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Donor’s Choice.
