
Sheila K. (Fitzgerald) Long, 77, of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, July 16, 2021 at ProMedica Bay Park. She was born on May 10, 1944 in Fremont, OH to Forest and Delores (Gracemyer) Fitzgerald. Sheila married James A. Boatman on December 26, 1961 and he preceded her on July 16, 1978. Sheila then married James F. Long on July 30, 1992 and he preceded her on March 28, 2015. Sheila worked various jobs and retired from Benchmark Prints. She formerly served as a Charter member of the Fremont Rainbow Girls, secretary for the Fremont Women’s Bowling Association and the Kansas Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Sheila enjoyed crocheting, bowling, fishing, nature but above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Sheila is survived by her children, Jay (Jodi) Boatman, Burgoon, OH, Julie (Tom Simmons) Claburn, Tiffin, OH, Clark (Janice) Boatman, Kansas, OH, Brenda (Greg) Harman, Pemberville, OH, Kimberly (Mike) McDole, Risingsun, OH; siblings, Richard Fitzgerald, Yukon, OK, Dennis (Sharon) Fitzgerald, Gibsonburg, OH, Joanne Green, Scottsdale, AZ, Fred (Linda) Fitzgerald, Clyde, OH; brother-in-law, Clark (Janet) Boatman, Kansas, OH; sister-in-law, Belva Long, Fremont, OH; seventeen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James A. Boatman; second husband, James F. Long; grandson, Jason Boatman; in-laws, Donna Fitzgerald, Phyllis Broski, Douglas Green, Dean and Carolyn Kellogg.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Ravi Narra and the staff at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital and Heartland Hospice for the loving care they provided Sheila.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.
Service is Wednesday, July 21, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Rutledge officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Smith Cemetery, Burgoon, OH.
