
Sharon L. Esker, 77, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, OH. She was born on October 11, 1943 in Piqua, OH to William Sunderhaus and Mary Jane (Penrod) Thomas. Sharon married Thomas Esker on April 23, 1962 and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2015. She was the owner and operator of Gift Baskets and Bouquets for over fifteen years in downtown Fremont. Sharon was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Whispering Meadows Garden Club and Soroptimist International. She enjoyed volunteering at Memorial Hospital, reading, gardening, painting, music, attending her grandchildren’s events and living life to the fullest.
Sharon is survived by her children, Lori (Mike) Warner, Marysville, OH, Michael (Cindy Miller) Esker, Fremont, OH, Stephen (Wendy) Esker, Etna, OH, Scott (Cindy) Esker, Pickerington, OH and Anthony (Tricia) Esker, Fremont, OH; seven grandchildren, Erin Esker, Megan (Dr. Steven) Smith, Alexandra (Noah) Nelson, Paige Esker, Jacob Warner, Tanner Esker, Olivia Warner; three great-granddaughters, Clarisa Orozco, Ayana Tijerina and Ava Tijerina.
She is preceded in death by her father, William Sunderhaus; mother and stepfather, Mary Jane and Virgil Thomas; husband, Thomas Esker; daughter, Deborah Esker and brother, William Sunderhaus.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 with a Vigil Services beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.
Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, April 29, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709, Croghan St, Fremont, OH 43420.
The use of face masks is required while indoors. If you would prefer, you may express your condolences below or call the funeral home at 419-332-6409 to request that your name be signed in the guest book.
Memorials can be made in Sharon’s honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Fremont VFW or Fremont Soroptimist.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
