Sandra “Sandy” K. Bodnar

Bodnar Sandra

Sandra “Sandy” K. Bodnar, 79, of Fremont, OH, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by her family.  She was born February 19, 1943, in Fremont, the daughter of Robert E. Babcock and Helen (Baumer) Babcock Foos.  She was a 1961 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Sandy married Stephen L. Bodnar on October 20, 1962, at Sacred Heart Church.  She and her husband owned and operated New Beginnings Bridal and Village Toggery Formal Wear in downtown Fremont for 25 years.  She also worked at Salon Centric Supply and was a licensed cosmetologist who specialized in skin care and makeup.

Sandy was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was the group leader of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and participated in the A.C.T.S. retreat. She was also a member of the Soroptimist Club.   She enjoyed swimming, reading, spending time, and traveling with her family.  Sandy also volunteered with her husband at several nursing homes.

Sandy is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Stephen L. Bodnar, Fremont, OH; children, Laurie (Adam) Crockett, Clyde, OH; Brenda (John) Whisler, Fremont, OH and Stephanie (Fred) Pizzedaz, Strongsville, OH; siblings, Ronald (Evie) Babcock of Oklahoma and Tami (Dennis) Barker of Georgia; grandchildren, Danielle (Ken) Luc, Tod (Ash) Whisler, Cody Crockett, Lindsay (Eric) Gray, Abby (Corey) Manns, Nick and Angelo Pizzedaz; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Evan, and Lauren Luc, Charlotte and Oliver Whisler, Riggin and Colton Manns; brother-in-law, Jerry Bodnar, Clyde, OH, and close friends, Judy Overmyer, Judy Rendon, and the late Sharon Esker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Howard Foos.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jame Abraham for his compassionate care.

Visitation:  Thursday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and
Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

Mass of Christian Burial:  Friday, April 22, 2022, 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH.

Burial:  St. Joseph Cemetery

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to A.C.T.S. retreat c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
