
Samuel “Sam” H. Slater, 70, of Fremont, OH passed away at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. He was born January 15, 1951 in Waynesburg, PA to Robert and Verlie (McCoy) Slater. He was a 1969 graduate of Lakota High School. Sam married Rebecca Wilson on October 27, 1973 in Fremont and she survives. He was a custodian at Fremont City Schools for twenty-five years and retired in 2014. Sam enjoyed NASCAR, Las Vegas Raiders and old cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, and attending their sporting events. He also loved to travel back to Pennsylvania.
Sam is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Rebecca Slater; children James “Jim” H. (Janell) Slater; Sarah J. (Tony) Reiter; sister, Barb (Jimmy Herren) Slater, all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Joshua Slater, Jayden Slater and Blake Reiter.
Private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or Heartland Hospice.
