
Ruby A. Hickam, 86, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Delray Beach, FL. She was born on October 25, 1930 in Fremont to Floyd and Ethyl (Lambright) Ross.
Ruby married Kermit Hickam in 1951 and he preceded her in death in September 2005. She worked at Atlas Industries for twenty-nine years where she retired in 1995. A few years later, she worked at K-Mart for thirteen more years. Ruby was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was a Lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer at Bethesda Care Center.
Ruby is survived by her children, Carolyn S. (Paul) Beeker, Helena, OH, Edward E. Hickam, Pontotoc, MS, Debra K. Kuyken, Fremont, OH and Rebecca R. (Chuck) Woolard, Delray Beach, FL; sister, Karen Hemminger, Fremont, OH; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit Hickam; siblings, Raymond Ross and Faye Schreffler; grandson, Danny Hickam and great granddaughter Andressa Kuyken.
Visitation: Saturday, July 15, 2017, from Noon until 2:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH
Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Vickey officiating.
A private burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery.

Our condolences to the family. My son and I had the pleasure of meeting Ruby at Bethesda and really getting to know her through the exercise program. My son Mike really enjoyed chatting with her and making her laugh. We will miss her.
