Roman “Romie” John Fisher

Roman “Romie” John Fisher, 94, of Fremont, OH passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 05, 2021.  He was born May 11, 1927 in Fremont, the son of Urban Albert and Gertrude (Wasserman) Fisher. Romie served in the U.S. Army from July 30, 1945 to December 15, 1946 and was awarded the WWII Victory Ribbon.  He married Ethel Hoffman on April 14, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clyde, OH.

Romie started working at Herbrand until he was called into the service. Upon his return from the service, he worked at G.E. and Scagnetti and retired from Whirlpool Corporation as a porcelain sprayer in 2002 after many years of service.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir, was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and was involved in Lay Ministry. He enjoyed camping, riding his bike, riding his motorcycle, talking to people where no one was a stranger to him and spraying cars for family and friends.

Romie is survived by his wife of seventy years, Ethel Fisher, Fremont, OH; children, Richard Fisher, Sue (Jim) Scharf both of Fremont, OH, Carolyn Fisher, Sandusky, OH, James Fisher, Fremont, OH, Elaine (Shane) Dyer, Helena, OH; siblings, Paul Fisher, Tiffin, OH, Leon Fisher and Joan Foos, Fremont, OH; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Howard, Lawrence, Marie, Alice, Linda, George and Norman.

Visitation:  Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial:  Wednesday, August 11, 2021, 10:30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420 with an hour visitation prior to mass.

Burial:  St Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.
