Robert V. Contreras

Robert V. Contreras, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, December 10, 2020.  Robert was born on May 18, 1931 in San Marcos, TX to the late Regino and Cresenciana Contreras.   Robert proudly served his country in the Korean War, where he received four medals of honor.  Robert was a diesel mechanic at Streaker Tractor Sales, Inc., where he started and ended his career.  In his spare time, Robert loved to stay fit and active.  He loved to exercise and even participated in the Camel Back marathon.  He was a handy man and was often working on cars.  He loved home cooked meals and had a big sweet tooth!  He loved spending time with his wife and family.  Those special moments together are what his family will look back on and cherish.

Robert is survived by his children, children, Ida (Saul) Salinas, Daniel (Michele) Contreras, Lydia (Dave) Flores, all of Fremont, OH; siblings, Gustavo (Maria) Contreras, Irma Contreras both of Fremont, OH, Roman Contreras of Michigan and Alicia Contreras of Washington; grandchildren, Eduardo Garcia Jr., Robert B. Contreras (Beckie), Felipe Flores, Amanda Salinas Sanchez (Adan), Alyssa Contreras, Teresa Salinas, Jennifer Flores, Brisa Salinas, Tesla Toth, James Toth, Nick Toth, and his great grandchildren; Callista Garcia, Estella Rose Contreras, Jose Contreras, Alina Contreras, Sofia Contreras, Emma Bennett, Xander Bennett, Aurora Barnard, Colt Flores, Hadley Nagy, and Barrett Nagy.

Robert’s family would like to recognize two very special aides, Shadae Sims and Sherry Sewell for their tremendous love and care of both Robert and Maria.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Maria J. Contreras; brothers, Jacinto and Albert Contreras; sister, Minerva Garcia and daughter-in-law, Rosa Estella Contreras.

Services will be held private for the family.

Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
