
Robert E. Martin, 86, of Fremont, OH passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 28, 1936 in Rollersville, OH to Charles and Martha (Bear) Martin. He attended Fremont City Schools. Robert returned to school at Terra State College to earn his GED at the age of seventy. Robert married Rose Lynn Siebert on August 26, 1955 at the Open Door Tabernacle officiated by his older brother, Rev. James F. Martin. They had seven children which included two sets of twins and were married for fifty-nine years before Rose passed away on March 8, 2014. Early in his career he worked for Paul Goodman building homes, then was self employed as a homebuilder in Fremont until 1974. In 1979 he and Rose moved to Litchfield, MI and served as Associate Pastors for Living Water Church in Quincy, MI. They returned to their hometown, Fremont, in 1989 and made Victory Church their home church where he served as a minister for hospital visitation and prayer warrior.
On September 7, 2014 Robert married Josephine Florio and she survives. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, jokester, and storyteller. Robert enjoyed activities with his family. He will be truly missed by his friends and family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Josephine Martin, Fremont, OH; children, Robert E. Martin, Jr, Kimberly A. (Eric) Hoffman, Timothy A. Martin, Mark S. (Sherri) Martin, all of Fremont, OH, John P. (Kim) Martin, Ambridge, PA, Joylyn P. (Nathaniel) Wilson, Olalla, WA, and Joel K. Martin, DeKalb, IL; stepchildren, Chris (Deb) Stout, Sun City, FL and Michelle (Greg) Fiber, Winchester, TN; sister, Betty Robles; forty grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Rose L. (Siebert) Martin; siblings, Rev. James F. Martin, Elmer Martin, Argel Martin, Charles Martin, George Martin, Arthur Martin, and Mary (Martin) Koleno; grandchildren, Ishelle Linn Wilson, and Justin Julius Martin; step-grandchild, Kelly Fiber; daughters-in-law, Paula J. Martin, Carole L. Martin and Melinda K. Martin.
Visitation: Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.
Service: Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Church 2051 Old Oak Harbor Rd., Fremont, OH 43420. His nephews, Rev. Ernest Robles and Rev. Scott Robles will officiate. Visitation will also take place from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH.
