Scott K. Hanes
Scott joined us in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in mortuary science from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. He also holds an associate in specialized technology degree from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Throughout his college-level studies, Scott gained valuable experience as a student associate at several funeral homes in Pennsylvania. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC), Certified Crematory Operator, as well as a licensed preneed insurance agent.Scott is a member of several professional and civic organizations including:
Gwen served her apprenticeship as a funeral director/embalmer with owner Tom Horvath. She graduated from Terra State Community College in 2003 with an Associate’s Degree in art. She graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2005. She received her Ohio licenses in 2009. Gwen has attended the Insurance Preplanning Advisor Training. She is also a licensed embalmer, licensed preneed insurance agent, Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC), Member of the National Funeral Director Association (NFDA) and Member of the Ohio Funeral Director Association (OFDA)
Marie is responsible for our Families In Transition program to assist families after the death of a loved one. After a funeral service, Joyce visits with families to address any unanswered questions and provide additional information on grief support resources. Jennifer is the business office manager for our funeral home. She was raised in Fremont and is a 1975 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Jennifer served in the US Army, Women’s Army Corps from August 1975 to November 1978. She received a certificate from National College of Business, Charlottesville, VA in medical billing and coding.
Jennifer plays a vital role in our day to day operations. She enters data that is needed when serving a family along with contacting many organizations; such as Social Security, Veterans Office and newspapers. Jennifer also handles answering the phone, billing, and accounting. She is a great asset to our funeral home.
Joe joined our funeral home in 1998 and he assists with pre-arrangements, visitations, funeral services, and other various jobs around the funeral home.
He is a licensed insurance agent and a member of the Fremont Moose, Sacred Heart Church where he serves as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister and a former member of the Financial Council and School Board. He also serves on the Annual Fund Committee at St. Joseph High School.
People around the community have known Joe for many years and relied on his thoughtful assistance during a difficult time and greatly appreciate all his efforts.
