William “Bill” Richard Jay

William “Bill” Richard Jay, 84, of Fremont, OH passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 surrounded by family at Regency Hospital in Oregon, OH.  He was born on October 21, 1938 in Fremont, OH to Clifford and Anna Marie (Haslinger) Jay. Bill was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School and then went on to proudly serve in the US Army from 1961 to 1963 and was awarded the Marksman Riffle M-14. Bill married Sandra Sue Hirt on February 10, 1968 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Clyde, OH and she survives.  He retired after many years from Atlas Industries. Bill loved spending time with his family but especially his grandchildren who meant the world to him.  His dream was to be able see all of his grandchildren graduate high school which was recently granted with the last grandchild.

Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Sandra Jay, Fremont, OH; children, Laura Lynn (Mark) Withrow, Fremont, OH, Mary Elizabeth (Dan) Lauretta, Knoxville, TN, Steven Andrew Jay, Bradner, OH; grandchildren, Simon Jay, Brennan Withrow, Kristi Jay, Sam Jay, Cory William Jay, and Brooke Withrow; siblings, Larry (Mary Jo) Jay, Kathleen Snyder, all of Fremont, OH, John (Lyn) Jay, Perrysburg, OH; sister-in-law, Isa Jay and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Michael Jay and brothers, Thomas and James Jay.

A Celebration of Life for Bill will take place at a later date.
