Virginia J. Smith

Virginia J. Smith, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away on December 13, 2025 at Elmwood Communities in Fremont, OH. She was born on June 25, 1936 in Louisa, KY the daughter of Manford and Alka (Castle) Lemaster.

Virigina married James A. Smith on November 26, 1954 in Covington, VA and he preceded her in death on May 26, 2021. Her life was centered on her deep love for her family and for her church, Family Worship Center, both of which guided her values and gave her great joy. Virginia was known for her quiet strength, kindness, and steadfast faith.

Virigina is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Fred) Widman, Fremont, OH; grandsons, Clinton Smith and Matt (Jessica) Dearth both of Gibsonburg, OH; great granddaughters, Hannah and Allison Dearth, who were a constant source of happiness in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A. Smith and son, James Robert Smith and several siblings.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

Services will immediately follow visitation at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 am with Pastor Gary Clowers officiating.

A private graveside service will take place at Bellevue Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in Virginia's honor to Family Worship Center or Heartland Hospice.
