Thomas F. Swedersky, 85, of Fremont, OH passed away on January 26, 2026 at the Willows at Bellevue. He was born on September 27, 1940 in Fremont, OH the son of Ivan and Anna Marie (Recktenwald) Swedersky. He was a 1958 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Tom served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962 and was stationed in Germany for two years.
Tom married Barbara S. Gegorski on October 29, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation for thirty-eight years and retired as an inspector in 2004. Tom was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister for thirty-five years. He was also an active member of the American Legion, Fremont Elks and the Jaycees. Tom was an avid Ohio State fan and was proud to tour the stadium on his 84th birthday. He was also a Browns fan and attended the Fremont Ross football games for many years. Tom enjoyed collecting beer steins and shaving paraphernalia. He also attended many theater performances with his wife.
Tom is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Barbara Swedersky, Fremont; children, Melissa Swedersky, Sunbury, OH and Matthew Swedersky, Fort Loramie, OH; sister, Sue Ann (Keith) Partee, Avon, OH; sister-in-law, JoAnn (Robert) Groszek, Gahanna, OH and several nieces and nephews. Tom is also survived by his beloved granddog, Teddi.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, James (Bonnie) Gegorski and sister-in-law, Constance (Charles) Hill.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Willows at Bellevue, Bellevue Hospital and Stein Hospice for the loving care of Tom.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Tom’s honor to St Ann Catholic Church or a Parkinson’s organization of your choice.
