Thomas M. Light Sr.

Thomas M. Light, 94, of Fremont, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Valley View Health Care. He was born on February 6, 1931 in Green Springs, OH to Seth and Clara (Rodenhauser) Light. Tom served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1954 and received the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Tom married Ann E. Caine on March 5, 1955 in Newport, RI and she preceded him on May 28, 2013. He worked at the Ford Plant in Sandusky where he retired as a supervisor in 1987 after thirty-two years of service. Tom was a member of the VFW Post 2947, the Fremont Eagles and SJCC Boosters Athletic Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, fishing, volunteering for Memorial Hospice, vacationing with Ann at Fort Myers Beach, but above all, his greatest joy came from attending the events of his grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments as they grew into adults. Tom was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Cavs and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Tom is survived by his children, Tom (Cindy) Light Jr, Lisa (Al) Swaisgood, Tim (Beth) Light; grandchildren, Cory, Megan, Emily, Leigh Ann, Katie, Taylor and Ashley; sister-in-law, Catherine Berluti and nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann Light; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Kevin Casey and an infant brother, Joseph Light.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420. Family wishes for you to wear your favorite sporting attire or casual dress.

Services will take place on Monday following the visitation, beginning at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

A private burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in his honor to the VFW Post 2947, the SJCC Boosters Athletic Club and the BHCS Sacred Heart Campus.
