Thomas E Dorobek

Thomas Edward Dorobek, 77, of Fremont, OH passed away on November 20, 2025, at ProMedica Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 23, 1948, the son of Edward Joseph and Genevieve Catherine (Hoffman) Dorobek. Tom was a 1966 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School and attended Bowling Green State University.

Tom worked at Chemi-Trol for years until he retired. He was a faithful member of Grace Community Church. Tom enjoyed photography, bird watching, catfishing, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He loved basketball and was an avid Duke basketball fan and Coach Bobby Knight. He also coached youth basketball when his children were younger. Tom had a wonderful personality and never met a stranger. There wasn’t a topic that Tom couldn’t discuss.

Tom is survived by his children, Richard Dorobek, Fremont, Jennifer (Charlie) Free, Lufkin, TX, Nathan (Renee) Dorobek, Fremont; grandchildren, Elie and William Free, and Olivia Anstead; siblings, Sr. Mary Pat Dorobek SND, Peggy Mackey, Steven (Mai) Dorobek, David (Deb) Dorobek, Mary Lou Steinbauer, Brian (Carmen) Dorobek; former wife, Brenda Dorobek; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friend, Bill Raubenolt.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Michael, Edward, and Diane Dorobek; brothers-in-law, Chuck Mackey and Don Steinbauer.

The family would like to thank Mikayla Claus (his granddaughter he never had), his other caregivers, and Grace Community Church family.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH. A funeral ceremony will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorials can be made in Tom’s honor to Grace Community Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
