Scott Cecil

Scott K. Cecil, 66, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away on December 7, 2025 at Merit House in Toledo, OH. He was born on November 3, 1959 the son of Nile and Kay (Ashley) Cecil. He was a 1978 graduate of Woodmore High School. He then served in the US Maries Corps.

Scott married Debra Newman on February 14, 2015 in Fremont, OH and she survives. He was a truck driver for many years retiring from Henry W. Bergman Inc. in Genoa, OH in 2023. Scott enjoyed history, especially military history. He also enjoyed gun collecting and motorcycles. Scott loved animals and spending time with his family, especially his great nieces and nephews. He had a witty sense of humor and always spoke of how blessed he was to be married to his loving wife, Deb.

Scott is survived by his wife, Debra Cecil; step-father, Frank Kingdon; brother-in-law, Bill Deitemyer; nieces, Betsy (Kevin) Winters and Ashley (Josh) Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marsha Deitemyer.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025; 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Lydia Clowers officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Clyde, OH with military honors provided by the Fremont VFW and American Legion.

Memorials can be made in his honor to the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
