San Juanita Martin

San Juanita “Janie” Martin, 77, of Fremont, OH, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 on her mother Teresa’s birthday, at Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont, OH. Janie was born on July 24, 1949 to Santos Ruiz and Teresa Ramirez in Alice, TX. Janie was a 1967 graduate of Fremont Ross High School; in her elementary years she attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools.

Janie was a cook and bartender for the Stone Steet Tavern for many years until she retired in 2015. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her friends and family. Janie was a member of the Fremont Eagles and the Fremont VFW.

Janie is survived by her children, Kenneth Martin, Fremont, OH, Dean Martin, Fremont, OH, Joseph (Amy) Martin, Coloma, MI; siblings, Magdalena “Maggie” (Roy) Cantu, Fremont, OH, Santos Ruiz Jr, Alice, TX, Albert “Moose” (Betty) Silva, Connie (Donald) Stebel, Tammie (Abby) Silva; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Anthony Wayne and siblings, Maria Reyna and Rudy Silva.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.

Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Kenneth Angel officiating services with an hour of visitation prior to services beginning at 10 a.m.
