Ronald Cyril House, 90, of Clyde, OH passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was born on July 4, 1935 in Sandusky, OH to Cyril and Estella (Beier) House. Ron was a 1953 graduate of Clyde High School and then went on to attend Ohio University where he was a member of the freshman football team. After a year in college, he went on to serve as military police in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Ron returned to OU and graduated in 1962.

Ron married Jeannine Bintz on September 7, 1964 and she preceded him in death on November 18, 2013. He worked for two years at Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland before returning home to operate the family farm and initiate House Commodities, a commodity brokerage agency. After retiring, he enjoyed time with his spouse and friends in Florida during the winter and many visits from his daughters and grandchildren at their Clyde home during the summer, where they enjoyed the pool and many Gimlet hours. He spent hours tending to his large yard and flower garden. Ron was a huge fan of football, especially Notre Dame and also enjoyed the Cleveland Indians. Relaxing over dinner with his family and friends in the Terrace Club was a delight.

Ron was active in the Clyde St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served for many years in the Parish Council, several years as president and a member of the finance committee. He was a past member and president of SJCC Advisory Board. Ron represented his fellow Catholic Farmers on the National Catholic Rural Life Conference Board. He was a member of Sandusky County Soil and Water Conservation Board for thirty years, serving as board chairman and state director for many years. He served on the board of directors of Clyde Savings Bank for twenty-five years and then on the board of Community First Bank and Trust in Celina, OH. He served on the Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and was a past director of Rural Serv (now Sunrise Coop) serving as president for three years. Ron was a member of the Ag Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of the Green Creek Township Zoning Commission. He was one of the co-founders of Agri-Leaders Association, the organization that instituted ag promotion signs on the various highways in Sandusky County. Ron also represented Sandusky County on the Erie Basin Resource Conservation and Development Council, serving on the loan fund committee.

He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of SJCC Booster Club, Fremont Elks, Clyde Eagles, Clyde VFW and Farm Bureau.

Ron was named Sandusky County’s outstanding farmer in 1989, SJCC Booster of the year in 2002 and Cooperator of the year by Sandusky County SWCD in 2011.

Ron is survived by his daughters; Heather (Craig) Travis, Columbus, OH; Haley (Tim) Schmucker, Maumee, OH; Heide Cutri, Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren; Nathan Travis, Tanner, McKenzie and Kendall Schmucker, Quinn and Devon Cutri; and siblings Roger (Jennifer) House and Sandra Hainline.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeannine House and sister Shirley Culler.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 2, 2025; 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church 609 Vine St, Clyde, OH 43410.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery with Military Honors.

Memorials can be made in Ron’s honor to St. Mary’s Restricted Fund, SJCC Development Fund or the SJCC Boosters’ Club.
