Ronald A. Kuyken, 74, and Susan V. Kuyken, 65, of Fremont, Ohio, took their final ride together on August 28, 2026, as the result of a motorcycle accident in Tiffin, Ohio.
Ron was born on October 11, 1951, in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Louis and Thelma (Rutherford) Kuyken. Sue was born on December 23, 1960, in Fremont, Ohio, the daughter of Vincent and Shirley (Howey) Sloma.
Ron was a 1969 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and proudly served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973 as an explosive-demolition specialist. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Expert M-16 Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. Ron was proud to be a veteran and was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. Sue was a 1979 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Ron and Sue were married on September 13, 1989.
Ron was a machinist at Materion in Elmore, Ohio, for more than 30 years until his retirement. Sue was employed at Chud's Grille for the past 45 years and was currently the bar manager.
Ron and Sue shared a love of riding their Harley, listening to country music, and spending time with their family, friends, and beloved dog, Luna. Their family was at the heart of their lives, and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought them tremendous pride and joy. Sue was known for her kind and friendly nature and enjoyed antiquing and trips to Las Vegas. Ron was an upfront, honest, and genuine man who cared deeply for others and could always be counted on to show up when someone needed him. Together, Ron and Sue brought warmth, laughter, and friendship to the lives of those who knew and loved them.
Together, Ron and Sue touched the lives of many people in their community. They loved deeply, welcomed others, and created lasting memories with their family and friends.
Ron and Sue are survived by their children, Augusta (Jamie) Brooks of Liberty Center, Ohio; Jennifer Barton of Fremont; and James Kuyken of Florida; their grandchildren, Aphton Goehring, Terriana Harrold, Jamie, Jalyn, Darius, and Tekaria Brooks, Jacob and Amanda Mosser, Tyler Kuyken; and their great-grandchildren, Sasha Goehring, Ozlynn, Kainoa and Wrigley Darrough, Caiden Barton, Haley Mosser, Jacob Mosser Jr., Liam, and Maverick Canfield. Ron is also survived by his mother, Thelma Kuyken of Fremont; his siblings, Sue (Mark) Toeppe, Mike and Randy Kuyken. Sue is survived by her siblings, Steven (Denise) Sloma, Jeff (Nancy) Sloma, Jerry Sloma, Von (Dawn) Sloma, and Tod Sloma, along with many nieces and nephews.
They were preceded in death by Ron's father and infant brother, David Kuyken; Sue's parents; and their granddaughter, Andreesa Kuyken.
Though their final ride came far too soon, there is comfort in knowing that Ron and Sue left this world together, just as they had traveled through so much of life—side by side. The love they shared, the family they built, the friendships they treasured, and the countless lives they touched will remain a lasting part of their legacy.
May they ride together forever, with the wind at their backs, an open road ahead, and country music playing along the way.
They will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
