Roger G. Miller

Roger G. Miller, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026 surrounded by his family at his home. Roger was born on February 2, 1944 to Wilbur and Gertrude (Meyer) Miller in Toledo, OH. He was a 1963 graduate of St. James High School in Springfield, IL. Roger married Catherine Babione on January 9, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont and she survives.

Roger worked for Whirlpool Corp. for forty-three years retiring in 2006. In his early years he had worked part-time for Bettsville school. Although he faced serious health challenges, he never let that stop him from providing for his family. He had a talent for auto mechanics and was always willing to share that with others, at times advising young people about their vehicles. He especially enjoyed helping his sons and other young boys as they perused go-cart racing. His nieces and nephews affectionately nicknamed him “Uncle Goodrog”. Roger had also been a member of a local RC Club flying remote-controlled airplanes and enjoyed passing those skills along to younger members.

He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and their achievements that it would bring tears to his eyes. He loved them dearly.

He grew up as a member of St. Mary’s Millersville and attended elementary school there. He became a member of St. Jospeh Catholic Church after marriage and served as a Eucharistic Minister there as his faith was so important to him.

Roger is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Cathy Miller, children, Angela Molyet, Fremont, OH, Laura (Chris) Bliss, Parker, CO, Daniel (Kristi) Miller, Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Miranda (Andrew) Neidhardt, Jessica (Nick) Fite, Zachary (Rebecca) Molyet, Katerina (Justin) Stelzer, Hillary Miller, Ryan Miller, Kyle Miller, Janae Beck, Marshall (Brittney) Bliss; seven great grandchildren and one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Miller (2013), infant son, Jeremy Miller; siblings, Rosemary Bakies, Richard Miller, Ruth Ackerman and Sister Mary Elaine OSF “Rita” Miller.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 3-7 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St. Fremont, OH, 43420.

Burial will follow at St. Jospeh Cemetery, Fremont, OH.

Memorials can be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
