Rodney L. Burmeister

Rodney L. Burmeister, 58, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at his home. Rodney was born on February 12, 1968 to Roland and Sharon (Claar) Burmeister Jr. in Fremont, OH. Rodney was a 1986 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and Vanguard Tech Center in Auto Mechanics.

Rondey began working from High School, starting at Don Paul Ford. He then worked for Trevino’s Body Shop and worked for Baumann’s Auto Body Shop until 2022. He enjoyed sprint car racing and being a part of the Burmeister 16 Race Team, stockcars, fishing and snowmobiling. Rodney was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Ohio State Fan.

Rodney is survived by his daughters, Alexis Burmeister, Alison Burmeister; brother, Roland (Christina) Burmeister III; special brother, Mike Sommers; mother, Sharon Burmeister; nieces, Lily, Iris, Daisy, Violet Burmeister and special friend, Bernice Hercules; friends, Mustang Josh, Richard Sebastian, AJ Sleek and LJ Sommers 

He is preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents; Roland and Mary Jane Burmeister Sr. and maternal grandparents, Lester and Laura Claar.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.

Funeral Services will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior to services beginning at 10 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Four Mile House Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in his honor to the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame.
