Robert “Bob” Chester Taylor, 79, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Fremont ProMedica Memorial Hospital. Bob was born on December 11, 1946 to Chester A. and Helen E. (Jenkins) Taylor in Fremont, OH. He was a 1966 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Bob married Linda Wiles on March 25, 1967 at Grace Brethren Church in Fremont and she survives.
Bob was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Local 18 for over thirty years until he retired in 2000. He was the owner of Sun Excavating in his early years. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, his pets, spending time at Tim Hortons with his friends and talking about finances. He was an avid pool player where he was a member of several leagues, and he never missed a tournament. Bob was a lifetime member of Local 18 and Fremont Moose.
Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Linda Taylor; sons, Rich (Shirlin Stima) Taylor, Thomas Taylor; sister, Joyce Freeze, all of Fremont, OH.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Faye Rimespach, Leo Shiets, Edith “Edy” Martin, Jim Shiets and infant brother, Sonney Hoffman.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 3-5 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Road, Fremont, OH 43420.
Memorial Services will follow visitation starting at 5 p.m. at the church with a luncheon to follow services.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donor’s Choice.
