Richard J. Soto, 74 of Fremont, OH passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2025 at his home. Rick was born on March 25, 1951 to Donato B. and Dolores (Villareal) Soto in Findlay, OH. Rick was a 1969 graduate of Bettsville High School. Rick served in the United States Army from September 1970 to April 1972 and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
Rick worked for JH Routh Packaging for many years. He worked with robotics and plastic molding for several companies and retired from First Choice Plastics. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson Bike, sports and playing basketball and baseball in High School. Rick was a current black belt in Karate and was proud of that accomplishment.
Rick is survived by his children, Kelly and Brooke; two granddaughters; siblings, John Soto, Fremont, OH, Dolores Carr, Bradner, OH, David Soto, Sycamore, OH, Michael (Brenda) Soto, Westerville, OH; nieces and nephews, Aaron (Emma) Soto, Gabriela Soto, Charlene (Christian) Breece, Ryan Soto, Tony Hausman, Sandy Hausman, Melody Hausman, Tracy Piper, Kevin Frankfather, Michael Carr, Joshua Strawman; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Delia Hausman.
Visitation will take place on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 11-1 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.
Services will follow visitation starting at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
Memorials can be made in Rick’s honor to a Veteran’s Affiliation of the Donors Choice.
