Richard "Jaws" J. Wickert

Richard “Jaws” John Wickert, 78, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Bethesda Care Center. He was born on January 27, 1947 in Fremont, OH to John and Beulah (Charles) Wickert. Richard was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He then went on to serve for the US National Guard for six years.

Richard married Bonnie Free on September 9, 1968 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fremont. He worked as an electrician for Honeywell in Fostoria, OH for over thirty years, retiring in 2006. Richard was a member of the UAW 533, the Conservation Club in Oak Harbor, the Big Brother Club where he was a Big Brother of the Year and Boy Scouts. Richard enjoyed fishing, shooting, tending to bees and working in the yard.

Richard is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Bonnie Wickert, Fremont, OH; children, Angela (Danny) Ivy, Elmore, OH, Jason Wickert, Clyde, OH, Sarah (Tim) Rakay, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Casey, Chelsey, Caitlyn, Camryn, Colton, Carson, Kade, Isabella, Addalynn, McKenna, Liliana and Mariska; great grandchildren, Coraline, Caileigh, Briggston; siblings, Mary Lou Feighner, Findlay, OH, Janet Guthrie, Fremont, OH, Roger (Linda) Wickert, Roanoke, VA and his dog, Brutus.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Megan Wickert; brothers-in law, Bob Feighner and Bob Guthrie.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

A funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm following the visitation at the funeral home with Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer officiating with Military Honor's provided by the VFW and the American Legion.

Memorials can be made in Richard’s honor to his family or the Donor’s choice.
