Raymond L. Thornbury

Raymond Lee Thornbury, 88, of Fremont, OH passed away on May 26, 2026 at the Willows at Bellevue. He was born on October 9, 1937 in Pikeville, KY the son of Clarence and Orene (Jones) Thornbury.

Raymond married Jessie Ratliff on September 4, 1965 in Grundy, VA and she survives. He served in the US Marines Corps from 1956-1957. Raymond was a manufacturing technician for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky for thirty-five years until he retired in 1996. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Raymond enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking, playing guitar, singing and he loved classic cars. He also loved to spend time with his family.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Jessie Thornbury, Fremont; children, Lisa (Ted) Dayton, Port Clinton, Michelle (Pete) Hamilton, Clyde and David (Stacie) Thornbury, Fremont; grandchildren, Cole Hamilton, Alexis (Tommy Sihombing) Dayton, Kaya and Cailin Thornbury; siblings, Roger (Gail) Thornbury, Dayton, OH, Ben Thornbury and Nolan (Debbie) Hunt; sister-in-law, Brenda Thornbury all of Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Helen Nickelson, Bill Thornbury, Clarence Thornbury and Shirley Owens; special uncle, Paul (Frances) Thornbury.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with an hour of visitation prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Garden, Clyde, OH with military honors provided by the V.F.W. and American Legion.
