Raymond A. Lehr, 76, of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont, OH. He was born on December 26, 1948 in Detroit, MI to Alvin “Woody” and Syble (Trammell) Lehr. Ray was a 1967 graduate of Hazel Park High School.

Ray married Vera Johnson, God’s greatest gift to himon August 2, 1969 in Hazel Park, MI and she survives. He worked for the State of Michigan as a Tradesman and Physical Plant Supervisor and retired after many years of service. Ray loved teaching archery through the CenterShot program, and spent many years serving the True North Mens Ministry at Trinity Church in Lansing MI . He enjoyed working with his hands, he was a “jack of all trades” fixing things for the church, family, and friends. He enjoyed woodworking and recently tried his hand at wood turning on a lathe. Ray was a connector and never met a stranger. His faith in Jesus was simple and genuine. He served faithfully at First Baptist Church in Hazel Park as a trustee, AWANA leader, and youth volunteer, at Trinity Church with the camera crew, True North and CenterShot. When he and Vera moved to Fremont he loved having a meal with the “Yak Pack” from Grace Community Church.

Ray is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Vera Lehr, Fremont, OH; children, Kary (John) Rantala, Perry, MI, Kevin (Christine) Lehr, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Myah Lehr, Lauren Rantala, Ethan (Jessica) Lehr, Caleb (Grace) Lehr, Charis Lehr, Tyler Rantala; brothers, Keith (Dorothy) Lehr and Dan Lehr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Woody and Syble Lehr.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Roseland Park Cemetery, 29001 Woodward Ave, Berkley, MI 48072. An informal luncheon will take place at 2:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Hazel Park, 23321 S. Chrysler Dr, Hazel Park MI 48030.

In lieu of sending flowers, memorials gifts can be made in Ray’s honor to a charity of your choice.
