Penny Jo Nye, 59, passed away on April 18, 2026. She was born on October 22, 1966, in Fremont, Ohio, to Charles R. “Sonny” Peck Sr. and Betty J. Peck (Rhoads).
Penny was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children, Jon (Amanda) Peck, Richard (Angie Kohler) Gilbert, Jeff (Heather) Gilbert, and Kendra (Collin Lane) Nye. She was a beloved and cherished grandmother to Nevaeh, Mia, Jonny, Addie, Autumn, Avery, Aaliyah, Kassidy, Nina, and one precious grandchild on the way, Lilith.
She is also survived by her siblings Thomas (Shari) Peck, Peggy Dawes, William (Barbara) Peck, and Matthew Peck and brother-in-law, Gilbert Martinez. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Charles Peck, Billie Martinez, Bobbie (Douglas) Smith, and Martha (Christopher) Valdez.
Penny had a vibrant personality and a love for life’s simple joys. She enjoyed thrifting, diving into history, and testing her knowledge with trivia where she was known for “beating everyone at Jeopardy.” She was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and The Ohio State Buckeyes, cheering them on with enthusiasm.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found joy and community attending Journey Church alongside her twin, Rosi Liggins-Jones. Above all, Penny treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
Penny will be remembered for her wit, warmth, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at The Pontifex, located at 416 W. State Street in Fremont, Ohio. A meal will be provided, and family warmly invites all who knew Penny to join them in honoring her life and sharing memories together.
