Paul Vonlyn Howard, Jr., 71, of Fremont, OH passed away on December 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and dog at his home.  He was born on August 29, 1952, in Columbus, OH the son of Paul Vonlyn and Esther (Coppick) Howard, Sr..  Paul was a 1970 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School and received his bachelor's degree in finance from Franklin University.  

Paul was a man with a plan.  He had a long, successful career in banking until he retired from Fremont Federal Credit Union in 2021 where he served as Chief Financial Officer for eight years.  Upon retirement, he served as a Board of Directors’ officer at the Credit Union.  Paul was a member of Fremont Alliance Church where he played in the praise band.  He was also a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Clyde where he played in the worship band and served as treasurer for many years.  Paul served on the board of directors for LifeWise Academy.

Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, playing guitar, spending time outdoors and reading.  He enjoyed road trips in his Corvette and riding his motorcycle.  He was an avid fan of The Beatles and The Ohio State Buckeyes.  Paul loved his dogs Lilly, Jasper and Emma, but most of all he cherished spending time with his loving family, especially on his annual Father’s Day Campout. 

Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife of ten years, Hilda Howard, Fremont; children:  Anna (Jim) Moore, Hilton Head Island, SC; Jeremiah (Melissa) Howard, Bluffton, SC; Michael (Katie) Howard, Hilliard, OH; Andrew (Sami) Howard, Chillicothe, OH; Matthew (Heidee Moreland) Howard, Hilliard, OH; Marie (Jonathan) Lorenz, Columbus, OH; siblings:  Deborah Klinger, Logan, OH; Kathy (Dennis) Gates, Stoutsville, OH; Sheila Howard, Columbus; Melissa Howard, Marion, OH; Amy Howard, Scott Howard and Amanda Howard, Blacklick, OH; Rolanda, Robin and Bud; grandchildren:  Ashley, Allison, Dylan, Jasmine, Jacob, Miles, Emma, Tommy, Jimmy, Amelia and Eleanor; great grandchildren:  Lyra and David; and former wife, Mary Anne Modlich, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Totsie Howard; infant brother, David Charles Howard; sister, Rhonda and grandparents, Earcell and Ivola Howard as well as many aunts and uncles.

Visitation:  Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

Funeral:  Friday, December 29, 2023; 11:00 a.m. at Fremont Alliance Church, 936 N Brush St, Fremont, OH 43420 with an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow at McGormley Cemetery, Fremont, OH.

Memorials can be made to the Sandusky County or Clyde food pantries.
