Paul R. Burmeister

Paul R. Burmeister, 80, of Fremont, OH, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1945 in Port Clinton, OH to Carl and Lucy (Michaels) Burmeister Sr. Paul was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and then went on to serve in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1972 where he was awarded the Marksman Badge.

Paul married Suzanne J. Binkley in Monroe, MI on July 14, 1967 and she survives. Paul dedicated forty-two years of his professional life to Kellogg’s, where he served as the head of maintenance until his retirement in 2008. Following his retirement, Paul continued to stay active by working at Young’s RV. Paul was deeply involved in his community, coaching youth league soccer, softball and basketball. He was a member of Grace Community Church and actively participated in organizations including the Fremont VFW, Moose, and Eagles. His hobbies included attending dirt track races, camping, and spending time tinkering in his garage. Paul was a passionate sports fan, supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Fremont Ross Little Giants.

Paul is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Suzanne Burmeister; children, Brian (Judith) Burmeister, Amy (Jason) Schneider, all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Emily (Kole Sherrill) Burmeister, Addison (Garrett) Schneider, Charlie (Mackenzie Kidwell) Corthell, Ashtyn (Bailey Carder) Schneider, Riley (Miguel Navarro) Schneider; great granddaughter, Kendyl Ryann Schneider; siblings, Nancy Schearer, Greensboro, NC, Carl (Darlene) Burmeister Jr, Lindsey, OH and his dog, Mollie Jo.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary (Joe) Garvin and brother-in-law, Thomas Schearer.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026; 11:00 am at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420, with Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer officiating.  Military Honors will be provided following the service.
