Merry Eve May

Merry Eve May, 75, of Fremont, OH, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Toledo. Merry was born on December 24, 1950 to James and Janice (Young) Dix in Hopewell, WV. She was a 1969 graduate of Sandusky High School and attended Terra Community College for Accounting.

Merry married Timothy May on October 4, 1986 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont and he survives. She worked as an Office Manager for the Sandusky County EMS from 1977 to 1989. She then worked as an Office Manager for the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museum until she retired in 2018. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family. Merry also loved to walk her dog, Ollie and enjoyed flower gardening.

Merry is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years, Timothy May; children, Tracy Henkel, Cincinnati, Kellie (Boris) Velasquez, DeBary, FL, James T. (Rachel) May, Tiffin, OH; sister, Brenda (Tim) Day, Tennessee; grandchildren, Caylie (Jake) Venter, Colton Henkel, Kaleb Valdez, Carlie Henkel, Elena Borges, Karlie Clinger, Landon Clinger, Gabriel May and Zoey May; uncle, Kenny Young.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Donny Dix, Kevin Dix, David Kastor.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of life will then follow at the Fremont Elks Lodge (Upstairs Banquet Hall), 436 Croghan St., Fremont, OH 43420.

A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Columbarium at a later date.

Memorials can be made in Merry’s honor to the Hayes Presidential Center.
