Melissa “Lisa” K. Distel

Melissa “Lisa” K. Distel,58, of Fremont, OH passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 surrounded by her family. Melissa was born on August 26,1964 in Fremont, OH to Francis and Mary Ann (Dickey) Homler. Melissa attended Fremont Ross High School and later received her GED. Melissa married Frank Distel November 9, 1995 and he survives. Melissa enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending casinos with her friends.

Melissa is survived by her husband of twenty-seven years, Frank Distel; children, Jason Groot, Pennsylvania, Erica (Thomas Urbina III) Groot and Jared Groot, both of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Taylor, Liberty (Grant), Jalynn, Ryan Jr., Gage, Parker, Klohee, Sophia, Jayson, Jeremiah, Jaxson, Vivian; step-grandchildren, Tommy and Emilio; siblings, Rebecca (James) Keaton, James (Brandy) Homler, both of Fremont, OH and Kathryn (Warren) Stout of Arizona.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Ryan Groot Sr. and brother, Raymond Homler.

A celebration of life will take place on

Saturday, September 2, 2023

from 2-6 p.m. at the UAW Hall, 209 N Stone St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Memorials can be made in her honor to the family or the Humane Society.
