Mattie Lee Brown, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Flower Hospital. She was born on June 8, 1944 in Laural, MS to Charlie and Jessie (McKinstry) Lindsey.
Mattie married Milton Brown Jr. on March 3, 1962. Their union was marked by love and dedication, and they spent many cherished years together until Milton preceded her in death on April 15, 2020. She was employed by Union Carbide, where she devoted twenty-five years of service before retiring.
Mattie was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment. She was known for her passion for helping and caring for others, always offering support and compassion to those in need. Family was especially important to Mattie, and she found great joy in cooking and spending quality time with her loved ones.
Mattie is survived by her sons, Trent (Airiga) Brown, Toledo, OH, Arlo (Lori) Brown, Fremont, OH, Rashad Brown, Columbus, OH; siblings, Charlene (Larry) McGee, Fremont, OH, Rossie Lindsey, Columbus, OH, Jacqueline Mullen, Toledo, OH, Sammy (Amy) Lindsey, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Deondray, Dirae, Ethan, Drake, Devontae, Rashonda, Thalia; special grandchildren, Rolando, Ryan; twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Rodney Brown; special daughter, Lenny Scott and sister, Suette Lindsey.
Mattie’s family would like to give a special thanks to niece, Staci Mullen and Brittany Dayringer for her love and care.
Visitation will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 from Noon to 1:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
A Memorial Service will be follow the visitation at the church beginning at 1:00 pm with Pastor Terren Leake officiating
Memorials can be made in Mattie’s honor to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
