Martin Edward Eberly, 73, of Fremont, OH passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 26, 2026. He was born on July 26, 1952 in Fremont, OH the son of Edgar and Margaret (McMahon) Eberly. Marty was a 1970 graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended Terra Community College and received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Toledo.
Marty married Wanda Perry on November 18, 1972 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she survives. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation for many years, retiring in 2006 in the purchasing department. Marty worked for St. Joseph Cemetery Association as the Secretary for twelve years, retiring in 2024. Marty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served on the school board for several years and was president in 1986. Marty also was an active member of the SJCC Booster Club where he was a past-president and was voted booster of the year. He received the SJCC Heritage Award in 2018. Marty loved sports and enjoyed attending high school sporting events and was a Freshman Football Coach at SJCC and coached various rec sports.
Marty is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Wanda Eberly, Fremont; Children, Jennifer (Jason) Willey, Fremont, Amanda Eberly, Alexandria, VA, Patrick (Kelly) Eberly, New Gloucester, ME, Jason (Riann Mohar) Eberly, Fairview Park, OH; grandchildren, Dylan (Shelby) Willey, Jacob (Teresa) Riggle, Jena Willey, Lauren, Briana and Emme Eberly; great grandchildren, Theodora Riggle, Isabel Willey, Cecelia Riggle, Tatum Willey; sister, Catherine Eberly, Lexington, MA and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents and sister, Marcia (Edmund) Carey.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 4 to 7:30 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with an hour of visitation prior to Mass at the church.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
