Mark L. Stein

Mark L. Stein, 63, of Fremont, OH, passed away on April 9, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. Mark was born on February 8, 1963 to James “Jim’ and Joyce (Klotz) Stein in Fremont, OH. He attended Fremont Ross High School. Mark married Karen O-Shaughnessy after spending thirty-three years together.

Mark worked for Pioneer Sugar in his younger years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, video games and being outdoors. Mark collected guns, knives and swords. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his wife of three years, Karen Stein; children, Mark C. (Joanna) Stein, Minnesota, Amanda Stein, Tiffin, OH, David (Violet) McBride, Fostoria, OH, Mathew Stein, Fremont, OH, Jenifer Okonski, Fostoria; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Linda Leonard, Smithville, OH, Brenda Johnson, Coffman, TX, Jamie Stein, Clyde, OH, Jedidiah Stein, Desiree Stein-Dartt.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 1925 N. Fifth St. Fremont, OH, 43420. A visitation will take place from 12 noon to 1 p.m. prior to services at the church.

Memorials can be made in his honor to Back to the Wild or Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area.
