Marion "Toni" D. Koenig

Marion “Toni” D. Koenig, also known as Mrs. K, passed away on September 13, 2026 at Elmwood Communities in Fremont, OH. She was born in Cleveland, OH on July 11, 1930 the daughter of Dr. Roy D. and Marion (Cameron) McCullagh. She graduated with the Class of 1948 from Cleveland Heights High School.

Afterwards, she attended Bowling Green State University and was a member of the Swan Club synchronized swim team through which she also met lifelong friend, Georgia Bruce and was later awarded an "Honorary" Athletic Letter. In 1952 she graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education.

Married to Lee Koenig from June 9, 1951 to 1979 she is survived by children, Susan Koenig, Fremont, OH, Brian Koenig, Elmore, OH and Amy Koenig, Tamarack, ID; grandchildren with which she enjoyed many cherished memories include: Michelle (Greg Rawls) Wyss, Montgomery, TX, Keith (Angel) Gschwind, Gibsonburg, OH, John (Caroline) Koenig, Milford, OH, Elizabeth Koenig, East Hampton, CT and Paul Koenig, Raleigh, NC. She was also blessed with 5 great­grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Dr. Roy D. and Marion McCullagh; daughter, Lois Koenig-Deran; granddaughter, Kelli Anne Deran, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Graver-Koenig.

Toni believed that "Learning" and "Thinking" were very important in life and truly enjoyed meeting and helping others, especially her students and customers she interacted with while teaching with the Fremont Public and Sandusky County Schools from 1978 - 2005 and serving as Concession Manager at White Star Park from 1982 - 2009. Enjoying the challenges of investing and comradery of Investment Clubs, she was an engaged member of the local Gold Diggers Investment Club, along with serving on the Northwest Ohio Board for the National Association of Investors (NAIC).

She was proud of her family history in the Winnipeg, Canada area along with the contributions of her father and Uncle Perry McCullagh to the early development of the Cleveland Clinic and their research efforts. She was grateful for ongoing friendship with Jim and Eve Mason from the time she moved to Fremont in 1954.

Toni and family would like to share a special thanks to the staff at The Elmwood Communities, ProMedica, Heartland Hospice and the Sandusky County Park District for their friendship and care. Thanks.

Celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 1:00 at the River Cliff Nature Reserve, 1313 Tiffin Rd., Fremont OH 43420.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandusky County Parks District in Marion's honor.
