Leo R. Bundschuh

Leo “Pinky” R. Bundschuh, 97, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 surrounded by his family at Portland Place in Sandusky. Leo was born on October 30, 1925 to Theodore and Frances (Hoffman) Bundschuh in Fremont, OH. He was a 1943 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Leo served in the United States Army Air Corps from November 29, 1943 to December 19, 1945 and is a WWII veteran. He earned the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, W/8 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, W/1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon, Air Medal and the W/3 Oak Leaf Clusters Victory Medal.

Leo married Marian Baker on June 18, 1949 at St. Joseph Church in Fremont, OH and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2021. Leo worked for the US Postal Service for over thirty years retiring as a Postmaster. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion, VFW, Toastmasters and the burial detail.

Leo is survived by his daughters: Susan (Jack) Lange, Huron, OH; Patricia Rhodes, Marblehead, OH; Christine Singleton, Fremont, OH; grandchildren: Molly (Brad) Sherman, Theodore (Jessica) Melching, Ali (Scott) James, Kelly Zolman, Ty Jason (Jessica) Fisher, Kyle (Abby) Fisher, Nathan Rhodes, Sarah (Paul) Halbisen, David (Rene) Rhodes, Tim Rhodes, William Singleton, Jeremy Singleton; twenty-five great-grandchildren; special nieces: Ruth Ann Mehlow and Judy Miller along with many other nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marian Bundschuh; siblings: Raymond Bundschuh, James Bundschuh, Mary Nieset and Ruth Biehler; sons-in-law: Jack Rhodes and Jeff Melching; grandson: Leo H. Fisher Jr.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at the church beginning at 11 a.m.

Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery Fremont, OH with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.

Memorials can be made in his honor to Stein Hospice or The Honor Guard.
