Lane R. Beeker

Lane R. Beeker, 85, of Fremont, OH passed away on February 28, 2024 at Trustwell Living at Clyde Garden Place in Clyde, OH.  He was born on February 2, 1939 the son of Russell P. and Majorie J. (Mischke) Beeker.   Lane was a 1957 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Lane married his high school sweetheart, Clara E. Rogers on February 2, 1957 in Angola, IN and she survives.  He worked for the Fremont Recreation Department for thirty-three years where he was the supervisor of the Men’s Leagues.  Lane also owned Lanes Canvas and Bay Trophy until he retired in 1999.  He loved to spend time and deer hunt at his cabin in Pennsylvania.  

Lane is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Clara Beeker, Fremont; children, Cindi (Dave) Kramer, Fremont, Cheri (Mark) Horn, Oak Harbor, Rick (Rende) Beeker and Chris (Dan) Berger both of Fremont; sisters, Sally Miller, Fremont and Marianne (Haven) Wensinger, Columbus; son-in-law, Craig Mellott, Old Fort; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Chelly Mellott; infant brother, Michael, brother-in-law, Larry Miller.

Lane's family would like to thank the Toledo ProMedica ICU, the nurses and staff at Trustwell Living at Clyde Garden Place and Homestead Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in his honor to Heartland Hospice.
