Jeffrey Alan Brown

August 9, 1960 — February 11, 2026

Fremont

Jeffrey Alan Brown, born August 9, 1960, to Herman and Joyce Brown, passed away at his home unexpectedly on February 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family pride, athletic excellence, and unforgettable spirit.

A proud 1978 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, Jeff was an exceptional athlete and true Little Giant. He lettered in three sports, demonstrating remarkable talent, discipline, and heart. His accomplishments earned him induction into the Fremont Ross Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 — a fitting honor for someone who gave so much to the program and his community. His football abilities led him to the University of Iowa, where he became a proud Hawkeye and competed in the 1982 Rose Bowl. Whether on the field or in the stands, Jeff’s love for sports never faded. He remained a devoted Little Giant supporter and could always be found cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines.

Known affectionately as “Brownie,” Jeff had a personality that left a lasting impression. He was generous in spirit and big on tradition and family— many will fondly remember his famous $5 Christmas card gifts and his signature phrase, “It’s a Brown thang!” His laughter, pride in his family name, and joyful presence will be deeply missed.

Above all, Jeff loved the Lord. He openly professed his faith and was a devoted member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where he found strength, fellowship, and purpose.

Jeff leaves to cherish his memory his children: Shayla Brown; Michael Spears (Rachel); Greg Brown; and T.J. Mason (Jasmine), all of Fremont, Ohio; and Taylor (Travis) Coates, Morgan Brown, and Jadrian Brown, all of Columbus, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to many grandchildren, and his legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren.

He is also survived by his loving siblings: Stephanie (James) Martin of Fremont, Ohio; Greg Brown of Toledo, Ohio; and Danielle Brown of Columbus, Ohio; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. He is additionally survived by Libby Spears of Fremont, Ohio, the mother of his children, who remained a steady and supportive presence in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Joyce Brown; his grandparents, Isaac and Lillian Smith; and his brother, Brian Brown.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February, 18 from 11:00 a.m - 12 p.m., with services to directly follow at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 927 Stillwell Ave, Fremont, Ohio. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Jeff's legacy will live on in lives he touched - through his faith, his family, his competitive spirit, and the pride he carried being a Brown.
