Janet S. Hazen, 86, of Fremont, OH passed away on March 30, 2026, at Valley View Health Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 9, 1940, in Fremont, OH and the daughter of Adam C. and Anna Rose (Bruggeman) Miller.

Jan was a 1958 graduate of Green Springs High School and attended Mary Manse College. She married Larry C. Hazen on November 25, 1961, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Clyde, OH and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1996. Jan taught at St Mary School in Clyde, Jackson Burgoon School and was a substitute teacher in Wooster, OH. She was an Interim Day Care and Parish Life Coordinator while living in New York. She then worked part-time at PK Catering and Bodyworks after moving back to Fremont, OH.

Jan’s love for Christ guided her life and was a constant source of strength. Her faith was evident in how she lived and how she loved others. Her joyful service to her church and community touched numerous lives.

Jan was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was Past President of the Rosary Alter Society, a Eucharistic Minister, Rosary Leader, Lector and part of the Welcoming Team and Funeral Liturgy Planning Team. She was a past president of the Sierra Club, CASA advocate, Deanery Rep for TDCCW and served as the Ohio Provence Director. Jan mostly loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Jan is survived by her children, Jackie (Ed) French, North Canton, OH, Brad Hazen, Fremont, OH, Robin (Bob) Zachariewicz, Loris, SC; siblings, Larry (Lela) Miller, Green Springs, Diane (Larry) Wadsworth, Tiffin, Dennis (Barb) Miller, Republic, Don (Susan) Miller, Clyde, Linda Brooks, Clyde, Dean (Deb) Miller, Bellevue, David Miller, Fremont, Jerry (Jeanne) Miller, Tiffin; grandchildren, Justin Zachariewicz and Kelle Greene; great grandchildren, Daxton and Avery Greene and Inari Zachariewicz.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Hazen; daughter, Kelle Hazen; siblings, Kenneth and Charles Miller, and Rose England.

Visitation will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH, with a vigil starting at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Chrisitan Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with an hour of visitation prior to Mass at the church.

Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Clyde, OH.

Memorials can be made in Jan’s honor to Sacred Heart.
