James Patrick Wonderly

James “Pat” Patrick Wonderly, 94, of Port Clinton, OH and previously of Helena, OH passed away on June 25, 2026 at the Willows of Bowling Green. He was born on March 11, 1932 in Helena, OH the son of William and Lorena (Auxter) Wonderly. Pat married Nancy Vallance on January 18, 1954 and she preceded him in death on May 16, 2005.

Pat served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and worked for many years as a superintendent with Mosser Construction before retiring in 1994. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, reading, gardening, woodworking, and refinishing. A skilled handyman, he built his first two homes himself, rebuilt several tractors, and continued riding his motorcycle well into his 90s. He also cherished spending many winters in Florida.

Pat is survived by his children, Gwen (Jeff) Jones, Gibsonburg, OH, Dean (Lea) Wonderly and Joanie (Dave) Clark both of Helena, OH; grandchildren, Mark (Adrienne) Jones, Ryan (Ellen) Wonderly, Jamie (Chad) Reno, Andy Clark; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Evan and Zachary Jones, Levi, Daxton, Calvin, Pheobe Reno and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Wonderly; grandson, Christopher Jones; siblings, Donald and Robert Wonderly, Elaine “Sis” Ruggiero and JoAnn Hofelich.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St Mary Catholic Church, 865 OH-635, Helena, OH 43435.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will take place a St. Mary Cemetery, Millersville, OH with military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Pat’s honor to St. Mary Catholic Church or Special Olympics.
