Gilberto E. Flores

Gilberto E. Flores, 91, of Fremont, OH passed away on April 24, 2025 at his son’s home. He was born on September 18, 1933 in Crystal City, TX the son of Carlos and Josephina (Enriques) Flores. Gilberto married Martha A. Diaz in 1953 and she preceded him in death on May 23, 2023.

Gilberto served in US Army during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956 where he was awarded the Nation Defense Service Medal. He then was employed at the US Postal Service in Toledo, OH as a General Mechanic for over thirty years until he retired. Gilberto enjoyed golfing, fishing and coaching boxing.

Gilberto is survived by his children, Gilbert Flores, Rosa (Juan Garcia) Flores, Hermalinda Flores, Irma Flores, Alex Ruben Flores and Hector Flores and eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha Flores; brother, Ricardo Flores; son, Jesse Flores; grandson, Danny Hickam and mother-in-law, Maria Diaz.

Visitation will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025; 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

A graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Memory Garden, Clyde, OH with military service provided by the VFW and American Legion.
