Gerard Recker, 61, of Fremont, OH passed away on April 15, 2025 at his home. Gerard was born on February 14, 1964 in Lima, OH to Leonard C. And Priscilla (Leist) Recker. He was a 1982 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School. Gerard served in the United States Marine Corps. Gerard married Rebekah S. Harder on December 22, 1990 in Oak Harbor, OH and she preceded him in death on July 6, 2019.
Gerard worked for Johnson Controls as a Residential and Industrial Alarm Technician for twenty-seven years until he retired in 2023. He helped out with Boy Scout Troop 302, Projects Unlimited 4H Club Advisor and volunteered for Riders Unlimited. Gerard dedicated his time to the Sandusky County Fair Log Cabin Area. He enjoyed camping and Military and Civil War history. Gerard was also a host of many Exchange Students over the years through the Youth for Understanding Exchange Student Program.
Gerard is survived by his son, Josh Recker, Fremont, OH; brothers, Stephen (Lisa) Recker, Delphos, OH, Anthony (Kelly) Recker, Fort Jennings, OH, Christopher (Sheila) Recker, Chambersburg, PA, Philip Recker, St. Petersburg, FL, Andrew (Megan) Recker, Hudson, OH; sisters, Barbara (Donald) Haggard, Delphos, OH, Geralyn Larson, Paulding, OH, Janet Foust, Delphos, Julie (Stoney) Beair, Grover Hill, OH; sister in law, Barbara Recker, Delphos, OH; longtime friend, Lee Carrington and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rebekah Recker; brother, Richard Recker; parents-in-law, Richard & Fern Harder.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 3-8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH, 43420.
Funeral Ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover St. Fremont, OH 43420 with an hour of visitation prior from 10-11 at the church.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
Memorials can be made in his honor to the Sandusky County Fair Log Cabin Area.
