Gabriel Gonzalez Romero

Gabriel “Buelo” Romero Gonzalez, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025 at The University of Toledo Medical Center. Gabriel was born on September 17, 1943 to Jesus and Catalina (Gonzalez) Romero in Trancoso Guadalupe Zacatecas, Mexico. He married Adelaida Romero (Trejo) on June 5, 1964 in Mexico and she survives.

Gabriel was a handyman and worked in construction for many years. He worked for Great Lakes Sugar Beet Factory in Fremont, OH. He was also a migrant worker for many farms over the years.

Gabriel loved life, his family, and God with all of his heart. He loved building things from scratch, especially the nativity scene he builds every year outside. He loved his chihuahuas, sweets and recording every moment. He was known for welcoming guests and making them feel loved. He was an active member of the Spanish Charismatic Prayer Group at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved connecting with nature, whether that was camping or in his backyard.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather to his wife of sixty-one years, Adelaida Romero Trejo; children, Susana (Jaime Gonzalez) Romero, Rafael (Flor) Romero, Cesar (Dina) Romero, Gabriel (Maria) Romero; grandchildren, Ruth, Edith, Estrella, Bianca, Erik, Nadia, Alexa, Kamila, Jasmine, Graciela, Cesar, Adriana, Gabriela, Jovana; great-grandchildren , Eli, Ezeleo, Dalia, Joelle; siblings, Hilario and Maria; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jesus, Miguel, Rafael, Antonio, Jose, Guadalupe and Teresa.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, OH 43420.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Fremont, OH.
