Frank J. Vanyo, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 24, 2026. He was born on April 17, 1933 in Northland Township, MN to Frank Earl and Pauline (Miller) Vanyo. Frank was a graduate of Monroe High School in St. Paul, MN and then went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a degree in engineering. He later earned an Executive MBA. Frank was a certified Industrial Engineer by the Industrial Engineering Society.

Frank married Jewelle M. Ball on June 14, 1958 at St. Paul Cathedral in St. Paul, MN and she survives. Frank served in the US Navy in 1952 during the Korean War in both Korea and Japan and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Frank worked for Whirlpool Corp in St. Paul MN, Findlay, OH and Clyde, OH, retiring after thirty-three years of service as Director of Manufacturing & Engineering and started a consulting business working in Mexico, India, China and Singapore. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as an usher for over forty years. He felt that giving back to his community was important. He was a Kiwanian for thirty-five years and served on the Sandusky County Community Foundation for nineteen years. He also supported the United Way and Red Cross.

Frank is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Jewelle Vanyo; children, Martin (Linda) Vanyo, Patricia (Tony) Michael, Jeanne (Mike) Bowman, all of Fremont, OH, Joe Vanyo (Nick Smith), of Michigan; grandchildren, Maria Pillado, Lauren (Mike) Keeley, Brett (Katrina) Michael, Garrett Michael, Heather (Scott) Villar, Timothy (Megan) Cantrell, Ashley (Jake) Cunningham, Nick (Amanda) Bowman, Zak (Christine) Bowman; sisters, Pauline Fisher and Lorraine (Wayne) Olsen and fourteen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ione, Robert, Leo and Joe.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church immediately after visitation, beginning at 11:00 am.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors.

Memorials can be made in his honor to Heartland Hospice.
