Evelyn H. Swinehart

Evelyn H. Swinehart, 92, of Fremont, OH passed away on May 3, 2025 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 13, 1932 the daughter of Lester and Helen (Schacht) Ohms. Evie married Glenn J. Swinehart on November 11, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Fremont, OH and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2006.

Evie and Glenn owned Glenn’s Water Hauling where she was the bookkeeper for many years until they retired in 1992. She also babysat many of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews when they were younger. Evie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and her chickens. She was an active member of the Eagles, Moose and V.F.W.

Evie is survived by her children, Linda M. (Dwayne) Dorson, Gillette, WY, Daniel G. (Tammy) Swinehart, Fremont, OH, Thomas J. (Kimberly) Swinehart, Fremont, OH, Diann L. (Dennis) Valentine, Burgoon, OH; siblings, Arlene Jones, Fostoria, Dave (Connie) Ohms, Fremont, Edith Smith, Holland, OH, Norma Nesbitt, Fremont; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Swinehart; grandson, Eric Swinehart; siblings, Raymond, Donald, Robert, Kenny, Dorothy and Jim Ohms.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH.

Memorials can be made in her honor to Stein Hospice or Ronald McDonald House of Northwest Ohio.
