Ellen L. Beier

Ellen L. Beier, 74, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH.  She was born on August 14, 1949 in Fremont, OH to Frank and Helen (Jones) Zienta.  Ellen was a 1967 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and then went on to receive her degree from Bowling Green State University in Education.  

Ellen married John J. Beier on April 29, 1983 at St. Cashmiere’s Catholic Church.  She was a teacher for the Margaretta School District for thirty-seven years.  Ellen also was a substitute teacher for the Fremont School District and retired in 2023 from the Sandusky County Recreation Department.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Erie County Retired Teachers Association, the Life Scholars and Dinner Club at Terra Community State College.  Ellen enjoyed volunteering at the Hayes Presidential Center, reading and was an avid sports fan.

Ellen is survived by her husband of forty years, John J. Beier, Fremont, OH; sons, Eric Beier, Newark, OH, Kevin (Macy) Beier, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Maxwell and twins, Addison and Jack.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Ellen’s family would like to give a very special thank you to Stein Hospice, Toledo ProMedica Hospital and Elmwood for their love and care to Ellen.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Services will follow the visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials can be made to Stein Hospice or to Ellen’s grandchildren in care of John Beier or to Donor’s Choice.
