Edward L. Brandt

Edward L. Brandt, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, June 13, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1936 in Carey, OH to Leo and Esther (Schneider) Brandt.

Ed married Ruth Ann Gillig on September 7, 1957 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, OH. He worked for Lesher Printer and retired after thirty-six years of service. Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Fremont Eagles, and VFW. He enjoyed carpentry, playing cards, and being outdoors but above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Ed is survived by his wife of almost sixty-eight years, Ruth Ann Brandt, Fremont, OH; daughters, Rebecca Hoffman, Cynthia (Tom) Light II, all of Fremont, OH, Kathryn (Scott) Brubaker, Dundee, MI, Laura (Bill) Brown, Paris, OH, Diane (Marc) Rosone, Overland Park, KS, Susan (Jeff) Harvey, Clyde, OH; sister, Berneda Grine, Fostoria, OH; brother, Leonard (Terri) Brandt, Traverse City, MI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie (Arthur) Miller, brothers-in law, Vincent Grine, Robert (Imogene “Jean”) Gillig; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Gillig.

Visitation will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, June 21, 2025, 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in Ed’s honor to Sacred Heart Church or Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools.
