Douglas Ray Mierke

Douglas Ray Mierke, 74, of Fremont, OH and formerly of Conway, SC, passed away at home unexpectedly on April 11, 2025. He was born on August 2, 1950 in Fremont, OH to Russell and Helen (Sipsma) Mierke. Doug was a 1968 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He then went on to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972 where he was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Doug married the love of his life, Laurie Frederick where they cherished one another for forty-seven years until her passing on February 14, 2023. Doug retired after dedicating over twenty-five years of service with Frito Lay. He enjoyed the time he and Laurie spent living in South Carolina over the years. He also enjoyed savory dining and living life to the fullest.

Doug is survived by his brothers, David (Margie Kuyken) Mierke, Fremont, OH, Dennis Mierke, Clyde, OH; mother-in-law, Myrna Frederick, Myrtle Beach, SC and step nephew, Michael (Mille) Kuyken Jr, Fostoria, OH.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Laurie Mierke and father-in-law, Ron Frederick.

A private graveside service will take place at McGormley Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
