Donald A. Snyder

Donald A. Snyder, 98, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at The Clyde Gardens. He was born on January 15, 1928 in Fremont, OH to Paul and Rose (Foos) Snyder. Don was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph High School and then went on to serve in the US Army from 1950 to 1952 as a Sergeant with the 27 Infantry “Wolfhound” Regiment, 101st Airborne Division where he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal w/ 1 Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal w/ Oversea Bar.

Don married Noreen M. Setzler on October 18, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2013. Donald dedicated much of his professional life to working as an auto mechanic, first at Neiberger Chevrolet and later at Miller Pontiac Cadillac. After many years of service in the automotive industry, Don transitioned to Mosser Construction, where he continued his commitment to hard work until his retirement. Don was a member of the St. Joseph Cemetery Board for twenty-five years and a twenty-two-gallon blood donor. He was a founding member and devoted parishioner at Sacred Heart Church and participated in several local organizations, including the Fremont Eagles, the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. His service and dedication were further recognized when he was selected to participate in the Honor Flight, a testament to his contributions and military service. Outside of his professional and community engagements, Don found great joy in gardening, a pastime that brought him peace and fulfillment throughout his life.

Don is survived by his children, Dave Snyder, Toledo, OH, Marty Snyder, Sevierville, TN, Shari Snyder and Bryan Snyder, both of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Tony Ackerman, Linsay Gheta, Nick (Cassie) Ackerman; great grandchildren, Owen, Ellie, Lilly and Luke.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Noreen Snyder; daughter, Marianne Snyder; siblings, Ruth Beier, Coletta Lehman and Richard Snyder.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Heartland Hospice, to Dr. Yuhas and his staff, along with the staff at Clyde Gardens for their loving care of Donald.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 3 to 5 pm and 6 to 7:30 pm with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors.
